example's bookblog for 'Gilead '
Progress: 20 pages
I put this book on request/hold at the library and by the time it came, I had forgotten all about it. I have no idea why I put it on hold. Reading the flaps only tells me I probably wouldn't have picked it up if I had just seen it sitting there.
But the funny thing is, I'm only 20 pages in and I'm already hooked. So far it's a man's note to his son on his deathbed and it's an incredibly realistic voice. I can picture the old man in my head perfectly. Some of my favorite books have come from choosing random titles off the New shelf at the library and while this obviously came recommended, probably by a trustworthy blog, I get the same sort of adventurous feeling from it since I know nothing about it.

"Solitude is a cure for loneliness"
Great stuff. One of the ways I know I like a character in a book is if I feel like I could have a conversation with them. I'd love to just sit and listen to this guy talk. I'm only 1/5 or so into this book and I'm already thinking I want to get her previous work.
