Progress: Second story
First story: eh. Felt like the (short) first chapter of a longer work. The basic idea was cool but there was no there there.
I've always had a fond spot in my heart for Sterling's Shaper/Mechanist universe and I tend to compare things to that. But he's not interested in that type of strictly science-fiction craziness anymore so I have to remember to compare apples to apples with his new work.

Progress: 4th story
Story #2: Just plain great. You can tell Bruce has been hanging out with design students. :)

Progress: 4th story
Story #3: Short but sweet. Just sort of the bare bones of a story with the details and voice hung on it.

Progress: Ribo Zombie story
This story is written with Paul Di Fillipo and you can tell. I've never considered Sterling a standard science fiction writer and this story is mostly standard stuff. You can see the Sterling touches but there's a lot of scifi exposition stuff he doesn't usually do and there's a glossary at the back of the story for pete's sake. I don't recall reading much of DiFillipo's work on his own but the presense of another writer is very evident.
